I approach my creative practice as a philosopher with a camera, understanding and visualizing love, beauty, and subjectivity through the power of adventure and play.
Perhaps, I am trying to recreate the same feeling I got witnessing Mulder kiss Scully on the forehead in Momento Mori in 1997. The vulnerability in each other's eyes, the longing, and the deep cosmic love they both shared with one another. It happened to coincide with the first time I took a picture. That moment coupled with the ability to document what I loved most, my baby brother, ignited a passion within me. That moment was the beginning of a life long journey to understand and witness as many different types of love as possible. The love of each other, the love of self, and the love of the artistic process.
The highest and most beautiful things in life are not to be heard about, nor read about, nor seen but, if one will, are to be lived."-Kierkegaard
I think about this quote when I photograph couples, whose presence and love is worthy of historical account and then I re realize: lovers are here for each other and no one else and that is the most powerful act of beauty in an age of sharing.
I feel so honored that I do what I do for a living. That individuals trust me to capture their most intimate, loving and important moments in their lives. This is an act I don't take lightly, but dedicate my heart and soul into. Thank you for taking the time to look at my art.
